The book so far seems to surround the facts about religion, gender, and superiority. In the begining, Marjane mentioned that all girls had to wear these very religious veils shading their faces and bodies from everyone else. It was enforced by a supposed superior individual, the emperor? Throughout the story, the main character mentioned several times that she wanted to be a prophet for the all-seeing God who supposedly visited her before she slept. There even came up a conversation between this young girl and her father abouit god . He explained how it was not God who also supposedly chose the current ruler to be so. That he chose himself in place of her granfather's own father. Therefore concluding that her own grandfather was, in fact, a prince.Marji wished to know more but was denied. She was told that her family was frghtened for him as he would oftenget arrested. This she learned from her own mother and clearly understood the hurt they must have experienced as they were during the revolution.
